Hoofan is the southernmost parish of Jinsy and was, until recently, the main source of trempersest, the island’s metal. The imposing but crumbly outline of the Serried Cliffs Of DoohH contained rich veins of the glinty, sparkly stuff, until it ran out, and now-disused tunnels lead into the cliffs, where the trempersest mines once stood. The Cliffs Of DoohH are steep and look over rocks and watery stretches. Don’t go too near the edge. Can be windy. So wrap up. Hoofan is famous for three things: being the southernmost parish, coarse grasses, organised singing groups and areas of thick, cloying mist. Low Point is the very southiest place you can go on the island, where you can enjoy drab slopes of grey bracken, rocks, and vent your pent-up grief or sadnesses in one of the newly-restored grief kiosks. Hoofan also boasts the island’s Hall Of Recycling, where duds are brought after ‘ending’ to be melted down and recycled. (You need to book first before a meltdown so contact Jeam, who’s lovely and happy to help. Don’t just turn up with a dead’un. And don’t touch her hair. She’s quite sensitive about it.)
